What Your PC Needs
The GRAVHOUNDS Steam build lists Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 12, 8 GB RAM, a GTX 1660 or RX 590, and 10 GB of available storage as minimum requirements. The November 6 update fixed specific crashes and hitching problems, but it did not promise a solution to every DirectX initialization error.
Minimum and Recommended Windows Requirements
| Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|
| OS: Windows 10, 64-bit required | OS: Windows 11, 64-bit required |
| Processor: Intel Core i5-7600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 | Processor: Intel Core i5-10600KF or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X |
| Memory: 8 GB RAM | Memory: 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 590 | Graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5600X, as listed on Steam |
| DirectX: Version 12 | DirectX: Version 12 |
| Storage: 10 GB available space | Storage: 10 GB available space |
| Network: Broadband internet connection | Network: Broadband internet connection |
Check your processor, graphics card, memory and operating system together when comparing your PC with this list. A DirectX label is only part of the published configuration. Keep the exact component names handy if you need to ask for help, so other players and the developer can understand what you are running.

What the November Update Fixed
The November 6 update addressed several distinct stability and rendering problems. Match your symptom to the changes below before assuming that every crash or pause has the same cause. Install available updates before checking whether your particular problem still occurs.
| Problem | Published Change |
|---|---|
| Rare GPU crash | A rare GPU crash was fixed. |
| Crash while entering or leaving a session | A rare crash during session loading or unloading was fixed. |
| Severe gameplay hitching | An issue with Windows audio-device detection that could cause severe frame-rate hitches was fixed. |
| Effects and material performance | Several visual-effects and material optimizations were made. |
| Flickering materials | Material flickering affecting some systems was fixed. |
| Save progress and recovery | A rare progress-overwrite or loss issue was fixed, and save/load error messages and recovery options were improved. |
At Early Access launch, the developer also warned about frame-rate drops during intense combat, large waves and scenes with substantial infrastructure. The later optimizations address particular problems within that broader performance work. If your game still struggles, describe the scene and symptom instead of assuming the GPU crash fix covers it.
Check a Launch Error or Persistent Hitch
- Record what happens and when. Separate an error before the game opens from a crash while loading a session or a hitch during combat. Copy the error wording and note the action immediately before it appeared.
- Compare your complete PC configuration with the minimum and recommended requirements above. Include your operating system, processor, graphics card and RAM in your notes. Check available storage as well, rather than focusing only on the DirectX message.
- Install available GRAVHOUNDS updates, then retry the action that previously failed. The Early Access update addressed a rare GPU crash, session-loading crashes and Windows audio-device hitching. Record whether the symptom changes, remains identical or disappears.
- If the remaining problem is joining or rejoining multiplayer, return to the main menu and reconnect. If that fails, ask the host to recreate the session. These are the developer's connection steps; use them for session trouble rather than treating them as a graphics-error remedy.
- Open GRAVHOUNDS Steam Discussions to report the remaining problem. Include your platform, game version, hardware details and a description that explains how to reproduce it. Add a short video if it helps show the failure.
DirectX and Performance Questions
- What does Steam list for DirectX?
- Steam lists DirectX Version 12 for both the minimum and recommended Windows configurations. Compare the rest of your hardware with the requirements too.
- Can the multiplayer host affect performance?
- Yes. Multiplayer is player-hosted, and connection quality and performance depend on the host's hardware and internet connection. The developer recommends a capable host in a nearby region.
- Is an internet connection needed for solo play?
- No. Although Steam lists broadband internet in its requirements, the developer says single-player can be played offline. Multiplayer requires an online connection.
- Does the game have native Steam Deck support?
- No. The developer says GRAVHOUNDS can run through Steam Deck's compatibility layer, but it does not currently have native Steam Deck support.
